Purpose




Technological developments have made it possible for organizations to use enterprise resource planning (ERP) services without indulging in heavy investments like IT infrastructure, trained manpower for implementation and maintenance and updating the systems regularly to maintain business competitiveness. Plug and play model offered by cloud ERP has led to a constant creation of large data sets which are structured, semi-structured and unstructured by nature. Thus, there has been a need to analyze such complex data sets and the purpose of this paper is to focus on how cloud ERP and big data predictive analytics (BDPA) will impact the performance of a firm.




Design/methodology/approach




A dynamic capability view (DCV) theory-based model was developed and the authors have collected data by using an online questionnaire from India. Thereafter, the authors have analyzed it by employing structural equation modeling.




Findings




SEM analysis of 231 respondents showcases that the use of DCV theory to define the relationships of cloud ERP and BDPA has been the right move. Out of the 13 hypotheses empirically tested, only 7 hypotheses were supported by the data.




Research limitations/implications




The study showcases cross-sectional data from India. It would be interesting for this study to see if the country-level differences would influence these relationships between cloud ERP and financial performance, BDPA and financial performance and cloud ERP and BDPA.




Originality/value




This study empirically tests the relationship of cloud ERP and BDPA through a model based on DCV theory.

Role of cloud ERP and big data on firm performance: a dynamic capability view theory perspective

With the technology of data storage and shared services in the cloud, users can easily share data or revoke from their groups. To ensure the accuracy of the shared data, the key is used for group users to calculate the authenticators of the shared data and audit the data's integrity remotely. However, high-speed mobile terminals have posed challenges to key management in Vehicle Ad-hoc networks (VANETs). Besides, to maintain the integrity of the shared data, the computation and communication overheads must be increased in the revocation process when a vehicle user is removed from a group. For such, a new shared data auditing scheme is proposed in this paper, which supports user revocation by combining the existing certificateless signcryption method with a fog architecture. This scheme improves the efficiency of auditing and user revocation since it reduces many time-consuming operations, as well as features such as public auditing, mutual authentication, efficient and secure revocation are presented. Security analysis and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is both correct and safe, has more comprehensive functions and better efficiency than other existing ones.

ARFV: An Efficient Shared Data Auditing Scheme Supporting Revocation for Fog-Assisted Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks

ERP provides businesses flow management and includes manufacturing, accounting, sales and customer relationship management. The new ICT technology, cloud computing, offers an alternative for businesses to conduct ERP. The traditional ERP implementation methodology involves various processes and procedures, which constitute the conditions or means for formulating the actual implementation of ERP projects. It is a time-consuming project. Cloud ERP is then a very good proposition for a start-up, and is simple to deploy, organization need not to bear additional server and other dependent costs. It is also easy and quick to implement an ERP to a business organization. However, on cloud ERP, the challenge of data security, business profit, Internet accessibility, and the total cost become initial issues for businesses to choose a fit one. This study provides a framework for businesses to adopt the cloud ERP.

Adopting lean thinking in virtual reality-based personalized operation training using value stream mapping

This paper presents cloud computing in a simplified context and develops an efficient framework for enterprise web application integration in organizational models using private cloud offering. From software engineering perspective, software development life cycle (SDLC) was used to derive a process model behavior of the proposed ERP system. A comparison was made among five cloud vendors based on standard metrics that justifies our selection. This work provides the architecture for creating Clouds with market-oriented resource allocation by leveraging on technologies such as Virtualization in Google App Engine Platform. This work proposes Java, Java Eclipse 3.6 with goggle plug-in Java SDK 1.5.5 and goggle web toolkit SDK 2.4.0 for its development and implementation while the ERP system integration is done on the Google App Engine cloud platform (platform as a servicePaaS) for high performance content delivery ERP system. The cost analysis presented in this work shows that cloud offering is a better alternative for enterprise web applications.

Cloud computing: a cost effective approach to enterprise web application implementation: a case for cloud erp web model

A Just-in-Time (JIT) Material Handling System attempts to manufacture products from start to finish by rearranging the factory floor layout away from batch production toward a product layout using flow lines. Industrial design and simulation of a JIT material handling system

With the astronomical growth in online presence vis-a-vis the IT industry across the globe, there is an urgent need to evolve cloud based DataCenter architectures that can rapidly accommodate web application integrations which can serve the energy industries, educational sector, finance sector, manufacturing sector, etc. Previous works in DataCenter domain have not investigated on cloud based DataCenter Servercentric characteristics for evaluation studies. This paper then proposed a Reengineered DataCenter (R-DCN) architecture for efficient web application integration. In this regard, attempt was made to address network scalability, efficient and distributed routing, packets traffic control, and network security using analytical formulations and behavioural algorithms having considered some selected architectures. In this work a simulation experiment was carried out to study six key performance metrics for all the architectures. It was observed that the network throughput, fault-tolerance/network capacity, utilization, latency, service availability, scalability and clustering effects of R-DCN responses with respect to above Key Performance (KPIs) metrics were satisfactory when compared with BCube and DCell architectures. Future work will show a detailed validation using a cloud testbed and CloudSim Simulator.

Performance Analysis of R-DCN Architecture for Next Generation Web Application Integration

This research work emphasizes on design of a robust control for a 3DOF robotic manipulator under uncertainties. The plant model was achieved using the independent joint method and the uncertainty problem was addressed by designing a robust controller using H-Infinity synthesis which was compared with PID. This was achieved with algorithms implemented in MATLAB. The H-Infinity controller recorded 0dB, while PID controller recorded 0.117dB and 0.061dB for joints I and II respectively in Complementary Sensitivity (T) graph at low frequencies. H-Infinity controller achieved better disturbance rejection characteristics with sensitivity (S) graph recording peak sensitivity of 0.817dB and 1.79dB at joints I and II respectively than PID controller which achieved 3dB and 1.86dB at joints I and II respectively. H-Infinity controller achieved better noise rejection characteristics with T graph recording lower gains at joints I and II respectively at high frequencies than PID controller which recorded higher gains at joints I and II respectively. Thus, it was concluded that the H-Infinity controller achieved better performance and stability robustness characteristics for the joint torque control than the PID.
