Elementary Probability Theory with Stochastic Processes.

Priority to hand off attempts in cellular radio network dealing with integrated traffic has proven to be one of the important issue to improve the grade of service (GOS) of such system. We propose prioritized fixed channel assignment strategy with subrating to protect the interest of handoffs in cellular radio network. To reduce the drop calls, finite buffering for handoffs of voice calls are allowed. The integrated voice/data traffic is originated from infinite population. Analytical results for the blocking probability of new and handoff attempts for each traffic group are derived by using steady state queue size distribution of the number of attempts in the system. We also derive expressions for blocking probabilities, delay probabilities and carried load etc. Since data/voice traffic users are usually, finite in numbers, finite population model has also been discussed. An iterative algorithmic procedure has been presented and validated by assigning the parameters of the system in order to compute performance measures. The optimal allocation of channels among new and handoff calls has been ascertained by formulating discrete capacity allocation problem. Numerical experiment has been performed to obtain optimum number of guard channels.

Prioritized handover requests in cellular mobile system with subrating for integrated voice/data traffic

This paper analyses the performance of Wireless cellular network under different environmental conditions. The paper discusses the basic architecture of cellular network and the issues which cause the degradation of quality of signal (QOS) during its propagation in free space. Moreover, the handoff scheme is also described using an on line handoffinitiation-time estimation scheme. Efficient handoff mechanisms are essential for ensuring seamless connectivity and uninterrupted service delivery. Latter the propagation models implemented are: free space path loss, Okumura model, COST 231 Hata model, SUI, ECC-33models and Ericsson model. These models are simulated for standard parameters for Cellular transmission. The results analysed were stated for each model in respective environmental locations. The result implies that the received signal strength depends on the path loss and the parameters of the transmitter and receiver. Quality of call establishment is based on received signal strength. Performance Evaluation of the Wireless Cellular Network for Path Loss

A mobile telephone system is designed to facilitate better communication among 8000 users in the centre of Roma. The network performance prediction tool was used to determine the best location for deployment of the base station. It was based on some parameters or predictions which were obtained by calculating needed data to construct the base station. Theoretically call planning, cell splitting, frequency re-use, offered traffic etc. techniques are used to obtain a good coverage for a certain city. In order to find the best cell cluster, many calculations were also implemented. The objective achieved was designing a network system in city centre of Roma. The 7 cell cluster and 12 cell cluster was selected for its overall efficiency. In addition to this, co-channel interference, best server, maximum received power etc. were examined for deployment of the base station with help of Winprop.

Design a mobile telephone system in a certain city

Buffers are used to overcome the data losses due to the interruption of data transmission when a mobile station is handed over in a cellular network. Data traffic from a wireline network to its mobile data terminal, such as access to large commercial databases or data transmission from a main computer to its remote mobile terminal, is studied. Compound Poisson (CP) is used to approximate the arrival process of the data traffic, and a modulated D (MD) distribution is used to approximate the service and handover process. The performance of the queueing model CP/MD/1/N is analyzed. Probability generating functions and characteristic functions are used to evaluate the mean queue length and the mean burst delay for an infinite buffer system and the overflow probabilities versus the buffer size for a finite buffer system. A method is presented to find the probability transition matrix entries by recursively taking derivatives of the probability generating function of the number of the characters arriving during the service-time. The queue length distributions for a finite buffer, both at departure instants and at arbitrary time instants are derived. Comparison with simulation indicates that the model is accurate. The numerical results of the model confirm the effectiveness of the scheme. >
