Increasing Incidence of Nontuberculous Mycobacteria
Chih-Cheng Lai,Che-Kim Tan,Chien-Hong Chou,Hsiao-Leng Hsu,Chun-Hsing Liao,Yu-Tsung Huang,Pan-Chyr Yang,Kwen-Tay Luh,Po-Ren Hsueh +8 more
TL;DR: To assess the species distribution and epidemiologic trends of nontuberculous mycobacteria, iso-lates from patients in Taiwan are examined during 2000–2008 and the pro-portion increased signifi cantly from 32.3% to 49.8%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increasing Trends in Antimicrobial Resistance among Clinically Important Anaerobes and Bacteroides fragilis Isolates Causing Nosocomial Infections: Emerging Resistance to Carbapenems
TL;DR: There was a trend of decreasing susceptibilities of these anaerobes to ampicillin-sulbactam, cefmetazole, chloramphenicol, and clindamycin with time during the study period, and the high rates of nonsusceptibility to commonly used antianaerobic agents mandate attention.
Journal ArticleDOI
A multicenter study of risk factors and outcome of hospitalized patients with infections due to carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.
Wang-Huei Sheng,Chun-Hsing Liao,Tsai-Ling Lauderdale,Wen Chien Ko,Yao-Shen Chen,Jien-Wei Liu,Yeu-Jun Lau,Lih-Shinn Wang,Ke-Sun Liu,Tung-Yuan Tsai,San-Yi Lin,Meng-Shiuan Hsu,Le-Yin Hsu,Shan-Chwen Chang +13 more
TL;DR: Patients with CRAB infections have a higher mortality rate than those with CSAB infections and longer hospital stay, colonization with A. baumannii, and admission to the ICU were associated with the development of CRAB bacteremia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii bacteraemia: clinical features, antimicrobial therapy and outcome
Lu-Cheng Kuo,Chien-Chen Lai,Chun-Hsing Liao,C.-K. Hsu,Yi-Yao Chang,Chun-Yen Chang,Po-Ren Hsueh +6 more
TL;DR: The characteristics of 55 patients with MDRAB bacteraemia infections occurring between January 2003 and February 2005 were analysed retrospectively and the combination of a carbapenem and ampicillin-sulbactam was associated with a better outcome.
