Journal ArticleDOI

A review on heterogeneous photocatalysis for environmental remediation: From semiconductors to modification strategies

TL;DR: Heterogeneous photocatalysis, an advanced oxidation process, has garnered extensive attention in the field of environmental remediation because it involves the direct utilization of solar energy for the removal of numerous pollutants as discussed by the authors .
Journal ArticleDOI

Mutant TAR DNA-binding protein-43 induces oxidative injury in motor neuron-like cell.

TL;DR: Sulforaphane protected cells against mutant TDP-43 independent of Nrf2-antioxidant response element (ARE) pathway, and reduced the level of lactate dehydrogenase and lipoperoxidation products in cells expressing T DP-43 mutant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nrf2 activity is lost in the spinal cord and its astrocytes of aged mice

TL;DR: Glial fibrillary acidic protein and ferritin expression levels increased, and the levels of glutamate transporter 1 and transferrin receptor 1 decreased in aging mouse spinal cord and its astrocytes, and epigallocatechin gallate restored the Nrf2 activity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trehalose decreases mutant SOD1 expression and alleviates motor deficiency in early but not end-stage amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in a SOD1-G93A mouse model

TL;DR: Trehalose may be a useful add-on therapy in conjunction with other ALS treatment options to alleviate symptoms in early-stage ALS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mitochondrial dysfunction in human TDP-43 transfected NSC34 cell lines and the protective effect of dimethoxy curcumin

TL;DR: It is shown that human TDP-43 caused mitochondrial morphologic abnormality, decrease of mitochondrial complex I activity and mitochondrial transmembrane potential, and increased expression of mitochondrial uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) in human T DP-43 stably transfected NSC-34 cells by using flow cytometric analysis, spectrophotometric assays, electron microscopy and Western blotting.
