Sensitivity of High-Resolution Forecasts Using the Adjoint Technique at the 10-km Scale
TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental framework is designed to assess the performance and the evolution of the diabatic Aire Limitee Adaptation Dynamique Developpement International (ALADIN) adjoint model at 10-km grid size.

TL;DR: The ERA5 data assimilation system as discussed by the authors uses a 2016 version of the ECMWF numerical weather prediction model and data assimilimilation system (Integrated Forecasting System Cy41r2) to assimilate both in situ and satellite observations (95 billion for the period 1979 2019), many of which stem from reprocessed data records.
