Comparative trace element geochemistry of tertiary basalts from Baffin Bay

TL;DR: In this paper, trace element data from Baffin island and Greenland tertiary tholeiitic basalts has been used to determine the ratios of K, Rb,87Sr/86Sr REE and U in the two areas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nickel, and the existence of high-MgO liquids in nature

TL;DR: In this paper, Hart and Davis showed that the straight line and curved portions of MgO vs. Ni trends for tholeiitic suites cannot be explained by fractional crystallization of olivine from a picritic magma.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of the liquid composition in experimental samples: discrepancies between microprobe analysis and other methods

TL;DR: In this article, a microprobe analysis of a glass is accepted as that of the liquid, its validity must be ascertained by alternative methods, such as alternative micro-probe analyses of glasses from experimental samples.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seaward extension of the West Greenland Tertiary volcanic province

TL;DR: In this article, surveys at sea off Disko Island show that basalts of west Greenland extend many tens of kilometers offshore forming a large part of the continental shelf, and on the shelf extend well north of the most northerly occurrences on land.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new potassium-iron-nickel sulphide from a nodule in kimberlite

TL;DR: In this paper, a new K-rich phase is described from a clinopyroxene-ilmenite intergrowth from the Frank Smith kimberlite diatremes, which occurs as ovoid blebs, which also contain pyrrhotite and pentlandite, in close spatial association with the ilmenite lamellae.
