The Design of CMOS Radio-Frequency Integrated Circuits: RF CIRCUITS THROUGH THE AGES

Background Pyocele is a rare emergent urologic condition that requires rapid recognition and treatment to prevent testicular loss. Cases of pediatric pyocele have not been previously reported in the emergency medicine literature. Case Report We describe a case of a 6-week-old male who presented to the emergency department for a sepsis evaluation. The patient displayed subtle scrotal findings but had an otherwise benign physical examination. Subsequent sonographic imaging suggested a possible scrotal abscess and surgical exploration revealed a pyocele. A literature review of previously reported cases of patients with pyocele is also presented. Why Should an Emergency Physician Be Aware of This? A pyocele is a rare cause of both an acute scrotum and neonatal fever. It is important for emergency physicians to consider this entity when evaluating pediatric patients with fever, particularly those with symptoms related to the scrotum.

SWARM: A Novel Methodology for Integrated Circuit Layout Automation Based on Principles of Self-organization

This work presents a new methodology for designing a cascode low noise amplifier using the scattering parameters together with the gm/ID of the transistors. A CMOS 65 nm technology was chosen to demonstrate the validity of this methodology. Normally there are two ways to design a LNA, the first of them is to design looking for maximum gain and the other is to look for the minimum noise figure. In this work both approximations were carried out. In addition, this methodology allows us to find the best solution or a trade-off between minimum noise figure and maximum gain for the low noise amplifier without any difficulty.

Design and optimisation of a cascode low noise amplifier (LNA) using MOST scattering parameters and g m /I D ratio

In this paper the inductive degenerated Differential Low Noise Amplifier (DLNA) is designed with operating frequency 2.4 GHz using 0.18 μm CMOS Technology. The DLNA is biased at 1.8 V supply and perfectly matched with input impedance of 50 Ω. Designed DLNA provides power gain of 21.59 dB with a noise figure of 398.1 mdB.

Idiopathic infected hydrocele in infants is a rare, but well-documented, entity in English literature; however, occurrence of such a condition in a toddler is not yet documented. Here we report the case of an idiopathic infected hydrocele in a toddler for the first time in English literature. We also discuss a review of literature and demonstrate management of infected hydrocele by antibiotics without any surgical intervention, also for the first time in English literature.

Idiopathic infected hydrocele in a toddler: a case report with review.

With increasing complexity of electronic circuits, the design and optimization of electronic circuit needs to be automated with high degree of reliability and accuracy. In order to optimize hardware requirement of digital combinational circuits, evolutionary and innovative techniques need to be enforced at various levels such as gate level and device level. This paper presents the use of one of the evolutionary techniques, i.e., Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. It is motivated by the social behaviour of organisms for the optimal design of combinational logic circuit with a reduced gate count in MATLAB platform. Results are presented to confirm that the PSO based algorithm is superior to Human Design Method in terms of time, effort and especially the gate count required to design the digital combinational circuits. The paper shows that PSO based algorithm converges faster than other algorithms such as genetic algorithm and also reduces the computational complexity.

Optimal design of full adder circuit using Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm

A total of 24 goats age between 3 months to 4 years used in study were selected on the basis of clinical parameters. Deep nasal swabs collected for bacterial culture and sensitivity reviled more isolates of coagulase positive Staphylococcus spp. and maximum sensitivity to moxifloxacin. Goats were assigned to three groups of eight goats each. Group I was healthy control, group II treated with moxifloxacin @ 5 mg/kg body weight given intramuscularly and group III was treated with aerosolized moxifloxacin @ 5 mg/kg body weight given through nasal route. Hematological profile and oxidative stress indices were used for comparative efficacy of nebulizer therapy with standard therapy and parameters were compared to the healthy controls. There was improvement in the parameters (p<0.05) in group III than with group II. We concluded that aerosolized moxifloxacin @ 5 mg/kg body weight can be used as alternative therapeutic modality for respiratory tract infection in goats.

In order to optimize hardware requirements of digital combinational circuits, evolutionary and innovative techniques need to be enforced at various levels such as at gate level and device level. One of the evolutionary technique Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm motivated by the social behaviour of organism is used for the optimal design of combinational logic circuits with reduced gate count on MATLAB platform. PSO technique has been applied to optimize Full Adder circuit. Results are presented to support that the PSO based algorithm is better than Human Design Method in respect of time, labour and specially the gate count required to design digital combinational circuit. Later on that optimized circuit has been analysed by Microwind3.1 VLSI CAD Tool. Using the tool the parameters like Area, Power, Delay and Maximum and Average drain current are determined with 90nm, 65nm and 45nm technologies using BSIM4 Model. The results shown in this paper reflects that with technology scaling decreases the area, delay, power consumption and leakage current which are some of the major requirements of today's VLSI design.
