Journal ArticleDOI

Seminal oestrogens in the boar: origin and functions in the sow.

TL;DR: Very high oestrogen concentrations are measurable in the fluid of the tubuli, which contribute the main part of seminal oestrogens to the ejaculate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seasonal effect on steroids in blood plasma and seminal plasma of boars

TL;DR: In boars on an artificial light programme the off-season depression during the summer was completely restored and indicates that daylight fluctuations are the main reason for seasonal changes of testicular function in the domestic boar.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seasonal variation of the ovarian function in unmated sows revealed by the measurement of progesterone and 17 beta-oestradiol in peripheral bloodplasma.

TL;DR: The progesterone concentrations during the luteal phases of cyclic animals were significantly lower in August than in November and January, indicating similarities to the seasonal dependency of ovarian function which is well known in the wild pig.
