Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental and numerical investigation of 2-D backward-facing step flow

TL;DR: In this paper, the lengths of separation and reattachment on the upper and lower walls were measured nonintrusively using closely spaced, multi-element hot-film sensor arrays for Re≤3000 and expansion ratios of 1·17 and 2·0.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dynamics and Stability of a Flexible Cylinder in a Narrow Coaxial Cylindrical Duct Subjected to Annular Flow

TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamics of a flexible cylinder in a narrow coaxial cylindrical duct, subjected to annular flow, were analyzed analytically, and the viscous forces were derived by a systematic, albeit approximate, solution of the Navier-Stockes equations.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Unsteady Potential Flow in an Axially Variable Annulus and Its Effect on the Dynamics of the Oscillating Rigid Center-Body

TL;DR: In this article, an analytical investigation of the unsteady potential flow in a narrow annular passage formed by a motionless rigid duct and an oscillating rigid center-body, both of axially variable cross section, was performed to determine the fluid-dynamic forces exerted on the center body.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Time-integration Method Using Artificial Compressibility For Unsteady Viscous Flows

TL;DR: This time-accurate integration method based on a three-point-backward implicit discretization of the Navier-Stokes equations in real time and a pseudo-time relaxation with artificial compressibility to advance the solution between consecutive real time levels displays very good computing efficiency and accuracy.
