TL;DR: Novel nontoxigenic Corynebacterium diphtheriae was isolated from a domestic cat with severe otitis, and contact investigation and carrier study of human and animal contacts yielded 3 additional isolates from cats, although no evidence of zoonotic transmission was identified.
