Journal ArticleDOI
Total Hip Arthroplasty Versus Hemiarthroplasty for Displaced Femoral Neck Fracture: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.
TL;DR: The best evidence showed that hemiarthroplasty and THA likely result in similar revision rate, function, mortality, periprosthetic fracture, and dislocation at up to 5 years, with a small, possibly unimportant benefit in health-related quality of life with THA.
Journal ArticleDOI
What Is the Best Evidence for Management of Displaced Midshaft Clavicle Fractures? A Systematic Review and Network Meta-analysis of 22 Randomized Controlled Trials.
TL;DR: Surgical treatment led to a greater likelihood of union at 1 year of follow-up among adult patients with displaced mid-third clavicle fractures and outperformed nonoperative treatment with minor improvements in DASH and Constant scores, though not approaching the MCID.
Journal ArticleDOI
What Is the Relative Effectiveness of the Various Surgical Treatment Options for Distal Radius Fractures? A Systematic Review and Network Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.
Taylor Woolnough,Daniel Axelrod,Anthony Bozzo,Alex Koziarz,Frank Koziarz,Colby Oitment,Lauren Gyemi,Jessica Gormley,Kyle Gouveia,Herman Johal +9 more
TL;DR: A network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials on DRF treatment found no clinically important differences in terms of the DASH score at 1 year; although differences were found, all were less than the MCID of 10 points.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reporting Outcomes and Outcome Measures in Thumb Carpometacarpal Joint Osteoarthritis: A Systematic Review.
Andrea Copeland,Lucas Gallo,Christina Weber,Syena Moltaji,Matteo Gallo,Jessica Murphy,Daniel Axelrod,Achilleas Thoma +7 more
TL;DR: There is a lack of consensus on critical outcomes after surgery for thumb CMC joint OA, and a standardized COS created by stakeholder consensus would improve the consistency and therefore the quality of future research.
Journal ArticleDOI
Venous Thromboembolism in Hip Fracture Patients: A Subanalysis of the FAITH and HEALTH Trials
D.R.W. MacDonald,David W. Neilly,Prism S. Schneider,Sofia Bzovsky,Sheila Sprague,Daniel Axelrod,Rudolf W. Poolman,Frede Frihagen,Mohit Bhandari,Marc F. Swiontkowski,Edward C.T.H. Tan,A. van Kampen,E.H. Schemitsch,Iain M Stevenson +13 more
TL;DR: The incidence of symptomatic VTE in hip fracture patients recruited to the FAITH and HEALTH trials was 2.5%.
