Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of apical foramen widening on the healing of chronic periapical lesions in dogs' teeth after root canal filling with Sealer 26 or Endomethasone. Study design Forty root canals of dogs' teeth were used. After pulp extirpation, the canals were exposed to the oral cavity for 180 days for induction of periapical lesions, and then instrumented up to a size 55 K-file at the apical cemental barrier. In 20 roots, the cemental canal was penetrated and widened up to a size 25 K-file; in the other 20 roots, the cemental canal was preserved (no apical foramen widening). All canals received a calcium hydroxide intracanal dressing for 21 days and were filled with gutta-percha and 1 of the 2 sealers: group 1: Sealer 26/apical foramen widening; group 2: Sealer 26/no apical foramen widening; group 3: Endomethasone/apical foramen widening; group 4: Endomethasone/no apical foramen widening. The animals were killed after 180 days, and serial histologic sections from the roots were prepared for histomorphologic analysis. Scores were assigned according to preestablished histomorphologic parameters and analyzed statistically by Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests. Results Regarding new cementum formation, repair of cementum and bone resorption areas, presence of microorganisms, inflammatory cell infiltrate and periodontal ligament conditions, significantly better periapical healing was obtained when foramen widening was done and Sealer 26 was used. Conclusion Apical foramen widening and calcium hydroxide–containing sealer were more favorable to the healing of chronic periapical lesions.

In the Pacific Ocean, air and ocean temperatures, atmospheric carbon dioxide, landings of anchovies and sardines, and the productivity of coastal and open ocean ecosystems have varied over periods of about 50 years. In the mid-1970s, the Pacific changed from a cool “anchovy regime” to a warm “sardine regime.” A shift back to an anchovy regime occurred in the middle to late 1990s. These large-scale, naturally occurring variations must be taken into account when considering human-induced climate change and the management of ocean living resources.

From Anchovies to Sardines and Back—Multidecadal Change in the Pacific Ocean

Introducao: A tecnologia da informacao vem ocasionando transformacoes em diversos segmentos da sociedade. Na area arquivistica sua presenca e marcante, tanto que ultimamente tem aumentado o quantitativo de instituicoes que fazem uso de sistemas informatizados, repositorios e plataformas que automatizam atividades como descricao, difusao, e que inclusive proporcionam o acesso ao patrimonio documental arquivistico. Objetivo: Discorrer sobre as funcionalidades e a utilidade da plataforma International Council Archives - Access to Memory (ICA-AtoM) nas atividades arquivisticas de descricao, difusao e acesso ao patrimonio documental arquivistico. Metodologia: Levantamento de bibliografia e referenciais teoricos, a partir de experiencias ja vivenciadas por pesquisadores da area arquivistica. Resultados: Constata-se que a plataforma serve tanto para descrever os documentos permanentes, como para proporcionar o acesso a informacao registrada em documentos correntes e intermediarios, como forma de dinamizar o acesso aos fundos documentais de instituicoes publicas. Conclusoes : Considera-se que o ICA-AtoM, alem de servir a descricao, pode proporcionar um ambiente autentico para o armazenamento seguro e como fonte de prova dos documentos institucionais digitais e digitalizados, bem como para prover preservacao e acesso a longo prazo, se for interligada a um RDC-Arq, como o Archivematica, por exemplo.

A utilização do Ica-Atom como plataforma de acesso, difusão e descrição dos documentos arquivísticos de instituições públicas

Presents a scientific research based in a study concerning the access control policies adopted in the State Public Archives. For this, seeks to identify the actions taken to control access to documentary and ensure the security of public information, with reference to the theoretical requirements of Standars ISO 15489-1; e-ARQ, and ABNT NBR ISO/IEC 27002. A survey on the site of the National Council on Archives (CONARQ), just looking for files that possessed an accessible website for contact, enabled us to define the institutions that would participate in the research. After that, it was possible to prepare the instrument for collecting data through a questionnaire send by electronic mail (e-mail), applied to those responsible of State Public Archives, selected for the study. It was concluded that, besides providing security measures for the file, otherwise the institutions are concerned about the security of information that will be passed on the users.

Segurança da informação arquivística: o controle de acesso em arquivos públicos estaduais

Introduction: This study addresses the issue of archival records in a digital environment, which are endowed with complexities and specificities that directly impact preservation and access. Therefore, they need reliable systems that guarantee their probative capacity, so that they can be used as evidence. Objective: Therefore, the relationship between the chains of custody and preservation is discussed, with a view to building a reliable environment capable of preserving archival records and maintaining their authenticity in long term with guaranteed access. Methodology: For this purpose, a bibliographic survey was carried out, consisting essentially of books, technical publications, theses and scientific articles retrieved through the Google Scholar search tool. It seeks to explain the interdependence between the chains of custody and preservation, have the Records Continuum model as a backdrop. You get a review article no systematic/narrative. Results: It was observed that the chains of custody and preservation have a high level of interdependence when addressed in a digital environment. Thus, there is a need to maintain an uninterrupted line between the Computerized Archival Record Management System and the Trusted Digital Archival Repository. Likewise, preservation actions must be thought of in management and even before record production, this assumption converges with the foundations of Records Continuum. Conclusions: Therefore, the interdependence of chains of custody and preservation coupled with the need to proactively preserve records points to a reformulation of the collections. Ambientes digitais confiáveis para preservação holística de documentos arquivísticos

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of pretreatment with commercial sodium hypochlorite, 5.25%, with a self-etch adhesive (Optibond Versa) in its original formula and with the incorporation of silver nanoparticles (NaAg) on fluorotic dentin. 240 human molars were classified according to fluorosis severity with Thylstrup-Fejerskov Index (TFI) and subdivided into three study subgroups according to the adhesive technique: ( ) self-etch (SE) control subgroup; ( ) NaOCl/SE subgroup; ( ) NaOCl/SE + NaAg subgroup. The nanostructural characteristics were observed by AFM, μTBS was tested, and hybrid layer formation was observed by SEM. One-way analyses of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey-Kramer post hoc tests were used. No statistically significant differences were found in roughness values in any of the subgroups and subgroups studied. Remnants of smear layer were detected in areas devoid of resin tags in SEM images of samples bonded with subgroup 2, in contrast to subgroup 3. No statistically significant difference between any of the results was found in μTBS and a greater number of adhesive failures were observed. The results show that the pretreatment technique of 5.25% NaOCl and the incorporation of NaAg to the self-adhesive system do not produce a surface more adequate for a better adhesion.

Sodium Hypochlorite as Fluorotic Dentin Pretreatment of Two-Step Self-Etch Adhesive with Silver Nanoparticle: Atomic Force Microscope and Adhesive Microtensile Bond Strength Evaluation

Este estudo realiza uma reflexao sobre as transformacoes do documento arquivistico, contextualizando-o como fonte de pesquisa. Discorre-se sobre questoes como a evolucao das tecnologias da informacao, suas consequentes vulnerabilidades e a perspectiva de acessar registros fidedignos. A metodologia consiste no levantamento bibliografico de materiais previamente publicados, contando com livros, teses, dissertacoes e artigos cientificos. Os dados coletados sao analisados de forma qualitativa, e apresentados na forma descritiva. Tais aspectos configuram este estudo como um artigo revisao com carater assistematico. A discussao esta centrada em tres pontos: confiabilidade, preservacao e acesso. Estes pontos sao debatidos com a finalidade de preservar documentos digitais fidedignos no longo prazo garantindo o acesso e a sua correta interpretacao por parte dos usuarios potenciais. Por fim, este estudo contribui para a sedimentacao do documento arquivistico digital como uma fonte de pesquisa, e salienta a importância de uma revisao constante das praticas de preservacao digital ate que ela atinja a mesma expertise que a preservacao tradicional.
