Missing data, imputation, and endogeneity

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explore imputation methods designed to increase the first-stage strength of the instrument(s), even if such methods entail lower imputation accuracy, and they do so via simulations as well as with an application related to the medium-run effects of birth weight.
Journal ArticleDOI

Financial Capability and Food Security in Extremely Vulnerable Households

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigate a lack of financial capability as a potential salient determinant of household-level food security and assess the impact of financial capacity on food security relying on family background as an exclusion restriction.

Estimation of Coherent Demand Systems with Many Binding Non-Negativity Constraints

TL;DR: In this article, the Gibbs sampling technique and data augmentation algorithm and rejection sampling are used to solve both the dimensionality and coherency problem with rejection sampling, and the results highlight the importance of imposing regularity when there are many nonconsumed goods and the gains from imposing such conditions locally rather than globally.
Posted ContentDOI

School Nutrition Programs and the Incidence of Childhood Obesity

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present evidence indicating positive selection into the School Breakfast Program (SBP) and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) has received renewed attention, and assess the relationship between SBP and NSLP participation and (relatively) long-run measures of child weight.
Journal ArticleDOI

Partial identification of the long-run causal effect of food security on child health

TL;DR: In this paper, the causal relationship between food security during early childhood and relatively long-run measures of child health was assessed using a nonparametric bounds approach along with data from the ECLS-K and ECLs-B. In the absence of strong assumptions concerning the selection and misclassification processes, the authors are unable to rule out the possibility of no long run causal relationship.
