Journal ArticleDOI
Postmortem examination of COVID-19 patients reveals diffuse alveolar damage with severe capillary congestion and variegated findings in lungs and other organs suggesting vascular dysfunction.
Thomas Menter,Jasmin D. Haslbauer,Ronny Nienhold,Spasenija Savic,Helmut Hopfer,Nikolaus Deigendesch,Stephan Frank,Daniel Turek,Niels Willi,Hans Pargger,Stefano Bassetti,Joerg D. Leuppi,Gieri Cathomas,Markus Tolnay,Kirsten D. Mertz,Alexandar Tzankov +15 more
TL;DR: The general extent of organ involvement and the microscopic changes in the lungs remain insufficiently characterised, and autopsies are essential to elucidate COVID‐19‐associated organ alterations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Brown Tumors Belong to the Spectrum of KRAS-driven Neoplasms
Daniel Turek,Simon Haefliger,Baptiste Ameline,Ilaria Alborelli,Byron Calgua,Wolfgang Hartmann,Dorothee Harder,Adrienne M. Flanagan,Fernanda Amary,Daniel Baumhoer +9 more
TL;DR: The frequent regression of brown tumors after normalization of hyperparathyroidism points to a second hit mediated by endocrine stimulation to be required for tumor development, suggesting brown tumors to represent true neoplasms driven by the activation of the RAS-MAPK signaling pathway.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cemento-osseous dysplasia is caused by RAS-MAPK activation.
Simon Haefliger,Daniel Turek,Vanghelita Andrei,Ilaria Alborelli,Byron Calgua,Baptiste Ameline,Dorothee Harder,Daniel Baumhoer +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a series of 31 COD samples were analyzed by targeted sequencing and detected pathogenic hotspot mutations involving the RAS-MAPK signalling pathway in 5/18 evaluable cases (28%).
Journal ArticleDOI
[CME Rheumatology 26: Rheumatological Cases].
TL;DR: Special rheumatological cases are illustrated using various examples and differential diagnoses and causes of a "Baker's cyst", on the other hand a case of involvement of the cervical spine in r heumatoid arthritis are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
CME-Rheumatologie 25: Rheumatologische Fälle CME Fragen
TL;DR: In this article , the authors illustriert besondere rheumatologische Fälle illustratiert, e.g., Differenzialdiagnosen und Ursachen einer ''Bakerzyste» vor, zum anderen einen Fall mit Befall der Halswirbelsäule bei rheumatoider Arthritis.
