TL;DR: In this article, the accuracies of six global burned area (BA) products for year 2008 were compared using the same validation methods and reference data to quantify accuracy of each product.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strengths and weaknesses of MODIS hotspots to characterize global fire occurrence
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a more detailed study on the relations between MODIS hotspots and burned areas, as extracted from Landsat images, which are commonly considered as reference data for validation of global burned area products.
A global comparison between MODIS hotspot and high resolution burned area data
TL;DR: In this paper, the relationship between high resolution BA datasets and the global MODIS hotspot dataset (MOD14) was studied, where the analysis consists in determining the number and size of the omitted fire scares and the commission errors of the hotpots, being those hotspots that could not be related to any fire polygon.
