Journal ArticleDOI

The Los Angeles Motor Scale as a predictor of angiographically determined large vessel occlusion.

TL;DR: This derivation data set is the first to use paramedics and EMTs as examiners prospectively and supports prehospital protocol change underway in New York City.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vitro measurement of the permeability of endovascular coils deployed in cerebral aneurysms.

TL;DR: Coils made of thicker wires may be more permeable, and thus less effective, than coils made from thinner wires, while data suggest a trend of increasing permeability with thicker coil wire diameter (not statistically significant).
Journal ArticleDOI

Patients, not pictures: why complete occlusion may be a complete disaster.

TL;DR: The Pipeline for Uncoilable or Failed Aneurysms trial is a landmark trial in neurointervention, with reverberations that continue to echo years after completion, and set a standard that is now being applied by the FDA across the board to subsequent PMA trials of new endovascular aneurysm treatment devices.
Journal ArticleDOI

Systematic regionalization of stroke care.

TL;DR: While MR CLEAN supports better outcomes in patients undergoing IAT, the collective data on stroke outcomes remain sobering and the overwhelming evidence provided by these recently completed studies has eliminated clinical equipoise between IAT and medical therapy for a large number of patients.
