Arterial reconstruction by direct surgical clipping of a basilar artery dissecting aneurysm after failed vertebral artery occlusion: Technical case report and literature review

TL;DR: This is the first case reported in the literature in which direct surgical clipping was used as the primary mode of treatment for a basilar artery dissecting aneurysm that enlarged despite occlusion of the dominant vertebral artery.
Journal ArticleDOI

Morbidity and Mortality in Patients With Posterior Circulation Aneurysms Treated With the Pipeline Embolization Device: A Subgroup Analysis of the International Retrospective Study of the Pipeline Embolization Device.

TL;DR: The major complications appear to be comparable to those reported previously after clipping and coiling in the literature and neurointerventionists should consider the shape, size, rupture, and location of complex posterior circulation aneurysms as well as age and PED number before the PED placement.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Hydrogel Endovascular Aneurysm Treatment Trial (HEAT): A Randomized Controlled Trial of the Second-Generation Hydrogel Coil.

TL;DR: Coiling of small-to-medium aneurysms with second-generation HES resulted in less recurrence when compared to BPC, without increased harm, and these data further support the use of the second- Generation HES for the embolization of intracranial aneurYSms.
