Journal ArticleDOI

Acquisition of fear conditioning in rats requires the synthesis of mRNA in the amygdala.

TL;DR: Results indicate that the transcription of new mRNA and subsequent protein synthesis in the amygdala may be essential for neural plasticity during this form of associative learning.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Hippocampal Injections of a Novel Ligand Selective for the α5β2γ2 Subunits of the GABA/Benzodiazepine Receptor on Pavlovian Conditioning

TL;DR: RY024 independently produced fear-related behavior prior to training and, at the highest concentration, decreased the strength of conditioning observed 24 h after training, providing further evidence for the involvement of hippocampal GABAA/benzodiazepine receptors in learning and anxiety.
