Journal ArticleDOI
Red cell distribution width, C-reactive protein, the complete blood count, and mortality in patients with coronary disease and a normal comparison population
Jason M. Lappé,Benjamin D. Horne,Benjamin D. Horne,Svati H. Shah,Heidi T May,Joseph B. Muhlestein,Joseph B. Muhlestein,Donald L. Lappé,Abdallah G. Kfoury,John F. Carlquist,John F. Carlquist,Deborah Budge,Rami Alharethi,Tami L Bair,William E. Kraus,Jeffrey L. Anderson,Jeffrey L. Anderson +16 more
TL;DR: Red cell distribution width was associated with mortality in patients with CAD and may provide clinically useful prognostication and Although RDW was correlated with hsCRP, they were independent predictors of mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
End-of-life decision making and implementation in recipients of a destination left ventricular assist device
Sally Brush,Deborah Budge,Rami Alharethi,Ashley J. McCormick,Jane E. MacPherson,Bruce B. Reid,I.D. Ledford,H.K. Smith,S. Stoker,Stephen E. Clayson,John R. Doty,William T. Caine,Stavros G. Drakos,Abdallah G. Kfoury +13 more
TL;DR: A multidisciplinary team approach with protocols involving DT patients and their families in EOL decision making allows for continuity of care and ensures dignity and comfort at EOL.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coronary computed tomography angiography for the detection of cardiac allograft vasculopathy: a meta-analysis of prospective trials.
Omar Wever-Pinzon,Jorge Romero,Iosif Kelesidis,James Wever-Pinzon,Carlos Manrique,Deborah Budge,Stavros G. Drakos,Ileana L. Piña,Abdallah G. Kfoury,Mario J. Garcia,Josef Stehlik +10 more
TL;DR: CCTA using currently available technology is a reliable noninvasive imaging alternative to coronary angiography with an excellent sensitivity, specificity, and NPV for the detection of CAV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Automated identification and predictive tools to help identify high-risk heart failure patients: pilot evaluation
R. Scott Evans,R. Scott Evans,Jose Benuzillo,Benjamin D. Horne,Benjamin D. Horne,James F. Lloyd,Alejandra Bradshaw,Deborah Budge,Kismet Rasmusson,Colleen Roberts,Jason Buckway,Norma Geer,Teresa Garrett,Donald L. Lappé,Donald L. Lappé +14 more
TL;DR: Using clinical decision support to help identify HF patients and automatically calculating their 30-day all-cause readmission and 30-Day mortality risks, coupled with a multidisciplinary care process pathway, was found to be an effective process to improve HF patient identification, significantly reduce 30- day mortality, and significantly increase patient discharges to home care.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biopsy-diagnosed antibody-mediated rejection based on the proposed International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation working formulation is associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes after pediatric heart transplant.
Melanie D. Everitt,Melanie D. Everitt,M. Elizabeth H. Hammond,Gregory L. Snow,Josef Stehlik,Josef Stehlik,Monica P. Revelo,Monica P. Revelo,Dylan V. Miller,Dylan V. Miller,Aditya K. Kaza,Aditya K. Kaza,Deborah Budge,Rami Alharethi,Kimberly M. Molina,Kimberly M. Molina,Abdallah G. Kfoury +16 more
TL;DR: Widespread surveillance for pAMR with a uniform grading system is an important next step to further validate these findings in the pediatric HT population and suggest that p AMR 3 is associated with worse CV outcomes.
