Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular typing and virulence markers of Yersinia enterocolitica strains from human, animal and food origins isolated between 1968 and 2000 in Brazil.
Juliana Pfrimer Falcão,Deise Pasetto Falcão,André Pitondo-Silva,Ana Carolina Malaspina,Marcelo Brocchi +4 more
TL;DR: The results revealed the virulence potential of a bio-serotype 1A/O : 10 strain, suggesting that food contaminated with Y. enterocolitica biotypes 1A and 1A may cause infection, and suggests that ERIC-PCR may be used as a tool to reveal clues about the virulent potential of Y. entersocolitICA strains.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microbiological quality of ice used to refrigerate foods
TL;DR: The presence of high numbers of coliforms, heterotrophic indicator micro-organisms and pathogenic strains suggested that commercial ice and ice used to refrigerate ¢sh and seafood may represent a potential hazard to the consumer in the authors' community.
Journal ArticleDOI
Virulence characteristics and epidemiology of Yersinia enterocolitica and Yersiniae other than Y. pseudotuberculosis and Y. pestis isolated from water and sewage.
Juliana Pfrimer Falcão,Marcelo Brocchi,José Luiz Proença-Módena,Gustavo Olszanski Acrani,E. F. Corrêa,Deise Pasetto Falcão +5 more
TL;DR: To determine the species, bio‐sero‐phagetypes, antimicrobial drug resistance, antimicrobiotic drug resistance and also the pathogenic potential of 144 strains of Yersinia spp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of four molecular typing methodologies as tools for determining taxonomy relations and for identifying species among Yersinia isolates.
TL;DR: ERIC-PCR has the advantage of being a cheaper, easier and faster assay than 16S rRNA gene sequencing or MLSA, and for these reasons can be considerate an alternative tool in taxonomic studies of yersiniae.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pathogenic or potentially pathogenic bacteria as contaminants of fresh water from different sources in Araraquara, Brazil
TL;DR: The microbiological quality of various fresh waters in the Araraquara region, state of Sao Paulo, Brazil was investigated and it is concluded that the waters investigated represent a potential microbiological health risk.
