Stubbs,Nigel Paneth,Nicole C. Verdun,Peter W. Marks,Arturo Casadevall +35 more
TL;DR: Early indicators suggest that transfusion of convalescent plasma is safe in hospitalized patients with COVID-19, and given the deadly nature of COVID 19 and the large population of critically-ill patients, the mortality rate does not appear excessive.

Blair,Nigel Paneth,DeLisa Fairweather,R. Scott Wright,Rickey E. Carter,Arturo Casadevall +37 more
TL;DR: The relationships between reduced mortality and both earlier time to transfusion and higher antibody levels provide signatures of efficacy for convalescent plasma in the treatment of hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiac myosin-Th17 responses promote heart failure in human myocarditis
J Myers,Leslie T. Cooper,David C. Kem,Stavros Stavrakis,Stanley D. Kosanke,Ethan M. Shevach,DeLisa Fairweather,DeLisa Fairweather,Julie A. Stoner,Carol J. Cox,Madeleine W. Cunningham +10 more
TL;DR: This translational study explains how an immune phenotype may be initiated by cardiac myosin TLR ligand stimulation of monocytes to generate Th17-promoting cytokines and development of pathogenic Th17 cells in human myocarditis and heart failure, and provides a rationale for targeting IL-17A as a therapeutic option.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sex differences in Sjögren’s syndrome: a comprehensive review of immune mechanisms
Jessica E. Brandt,Jessica E. Brandt,Roberta Priori,Guido Valesini,DeLisa Fairweather,DeLisa Fairweather +5 more
TL;DR: This review will examine the literature on sex differences in the immune response of patients and animal models of Sjögren’s syndrome in order to gain a better understanding of disease pathogenesis.
