Viability Testing of Orchid Seed and the Promotion of Colouration and Germination

TL;DR: The in vitro bioassay germination test, using a Fusarium isolate from the protocorm of Cypripedium reginae, was compared with standard chemical procedures of triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC) and acid fuchsin for testing seed viability.
Journal ArticleDOI

A History of the Study of Phyllotaxis

TL;DR: The study of the patterns formed by similar units in plants is traced from the first primitive observations in ancient times to the sophisticated studies of today, with the realization that phenomena similar to phyllotaxis occur in realms outside of botany.
Journal ArticleDOI

Beetle pollination of Philodendron solimoesense (Araceae) in French Guiana.

TL;DR: The pollination of Philodendron solimoesense was studied in four populations of French Guiana and showed that C. colasi is not likely to depend on chemical information to localize conspecifics but may rely instead on stimuli produced by the inflorescences in order to meet mating partners.
BookDOI

Symmetry in Plants

TL;DR: The aims and scope of the book are: homology-comparative morphology-exotic phyllotaxis, homological-comparable morphology- exoticphyllot axis, literature, appendices.
Journal ArticleDOI

Flowering and Pollination of Philodendron melinonii (Araceae) in French Guiana

TL;DR: The pollination ecology of Philodendron melinonii was studied at two locations in French Guiana and in greenhouse conditions at the Montreal Botanical Garden and the spadix temperature was measured during the entire flowering cycle.
