Journal ArticleDOI
Information from time-varying vibrotactile stimuli.
TL;DR: Results were similar for three stimulus types--sinewave, monophasic pulse and tetraphasic pulses--suggesting temporal cues are more important than spectral cues in this task, and implications for the design of a tactile aid to lipreading are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tactile information transfer: A comparison of two stimulation sites
TL;DR: Results indicate similar gap detection at wrist and fingertip and similar perception of frequency differences, however, perception of amplitude differences was found to be better at the wrist than at the fingertip.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vibrotactile and electrotactile perception of time‐varying pulse trains
Ian R. Summers,Philip R. Dixon,Philip G. Cooper,Denise A. Gratton,Brian H. Brown,John Stevens +5 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that frequency- and amplitude-modulated vibratory stimulation is a good choice in a practical device for the profoundly hearing impaired.
Journal ArticleDOI
ABR in newborns: Effects of electrode configuration, stimulus rate, and EEG rejection levels on test efficiency
TL;DR: There is some evidence that, for ABR threshold testing in babies, alternatives of ipsilateral mastoid or nape electrode and a range of stimulus rates have little or no effect on test efficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predictive value of hearing assessment by the auditory brainstem response following universal newborn hearing screening
TL;DR: The results of the study show that tone pip ABR following referral from newborn hearing screening has a similar accuracy to that reported in older subjects, and is a much better predictor compared to click ABR.
