Journal ArticleDOI
Improved survival with amiodarone in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and ventricular tachycardia.
TL;DR: The fact that control of ventricular arrhythmia with amiodarone is significantly associated with improved survival suggests that amiodrone may prevent sudden death in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and ventricular tachycardia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Verapamil in the treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia
TL;DR: It appears that verapamil is particularly suitable for the treatment of supraventricular tachycardias due to a circus movement as calcium antagonism is likely to be most effective in the N region of the atrioventricular node.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of verapamil on electrophysiological properties of anomalous atrioventricular connexion in Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.
TL;DR: Using intracardiac recordings of electrical activity and programmed electrical stimulation of the heart, the effect of verapamil has been studied on the conduction times and refractory periods of the anomalous bypass in 8 patients with the Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Frequency of risk factors for ischæmic heart-disease in a healthy british population: with particular reference to serum-lipoprotein levels
Basil S. Lewis,I. D. P. Wootton,Dennis M. Krikler,A. February,A. Chait,Celia M. Oakley,G. Sigurdsson,B. Maurer,J. Birkhead +8 more
TL;DR: Age and sex differences in lipid levels were noted, serum-triglyceride concentration being considerably higher in men, and cholesterol concentrations correlated positively with indices of obesity, and were slightly higher in women using oral contraceptives.
