Current plate motions across the Red Sea

TL;DR: In this article, a new objective method is used to estimate precisely 64 rates of seafloor spreading since chron 2A (3.2 Ma) from all the Red Sea magnetic profiles available from 15.9° to 26°N.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence for motion between Nubia and Somalia along the Southwest Indian ridge

TL;DR: In this paper, a large compilation of plate-motion data was used to determine a relative angular velocity of the two plates that has compact confidence limits, and the analysis places the pole of rotation near to the southern limit of African seismicity, implying that the southern part of the Nubian-Somalian plate boundary is a diffuse zone of convergence.
