Mental health concerns and behavioural problems in young offenders in the criminal justice system

TL;DR: The fact that social disadvantage and mental health concerns are almost always an element in youth offending has been identified as a major risk factor for youth offending by International1 and Australian studies as mentioned in this paper, who concur that the rates of social disadvantage across a broad spectrum of social experience and its attendant psychological morbidity in this population are so pervasive as to require the fact of social disadvantages to inform policy and service delivery planning.
