A new piperidine derivative and a synthetic polymer composition stabilized against photo- and thermal deterioration thereof wherein there is incorporated, in a sufficient amount to prevent such deterioration, said piperidine derivative.

The flameproof resin composition according to the present invention comprises (A) 20 to 90 parts by weight of a rubber modified polystyrene resin; (B) 10 to 80 parts by weight of a polyphenylene ether resin; (C) 0.1 to 30 parts by weight of a ring-shaped phosphonic acid compound, per 100 parts by weight of the sum of (A) and (B); and (D) 0 to 25 parts by weight of an aromatic phosphoric acid ester compound, per 100 parts by weight of the sum of (A) and (B).

Flameproof thermoplastic resin composition

The organic photochromic composition of this invention comprises spiro [indoline-2,3'-[3H]-naphth [2,1-b] [1,4] oxazine] (SO) dye and an unconventional ultraviolet stabilizer. The ultraviolet stabilizer improves the light fatigue resistance of the SO dye and will not hinder the photocolorability of the photochromic composition.

Powder coating composition for automotive topcoat

The invention relates to thermoplastic molding compositions comprising a polycarbonate resin which is rendered resistant to gamma radiation induced yellowing. It was surprisingly found that the incorporation in the resin of an effective amount of benzylic alcohol or its derivatized versions renders the composition resistant to yellowing. The composition of the invention is suitable for the preparation of molded articles having improved resistance to yellowing and to the formation of haze induced upon exposure to gamma radiation.

Gamma radiation resistant polycarbonate compositions

Flameproofing of aromatic polymers is achieved by adding a synergistic combination of (a) a phosphorus compound and (b) a compound of formula R(CH 2 X) n , wherein R is an aromatic or heterocyclic residue, X is a leaving group and n is at least 2. Preferred phosphorus compounds are esters of phosphoric acid. The flameproofed polymers may contain aromatic groups in the main chain or as side-groups, for instance styrene polymers and copolymers, aromatic polyesters, polycarbonates and polyphenylene oxides.

Flame-resistant polymer compositions

New 1- and 4-substituted piperidines are stabilizers for organic material. They are produced by reacting corresponding 1-substituted piperidinols with acid chlorides or corresponding 4-substituted piperidines with a compound introducing into the 1-positon a residue.

Disclosed are stabilized compositions comprising a polymer, especially polyolefines, and a minor proportion of a 1,2,2,6,6-pentasubstituted piperidin-4-ol. The new compositions possess good light stability.
