Journal ArticleDOI

Magnesium deficiency in plants: An urgent problem

TL;DR: Several aspects of MGD in plants are discussed, including phenotypic and physiological changes, cell Mg2 + homeostasis control by Mg3 + transporters, MGD signaling, interactions between Mg1 + and other ions, and roles of Mg 2 + in plant secondary metabolism.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of abscisic acid, gibberellin, ethylene and their interactions on production of phenolic acids in salvia miltiorrhiza bunge hairy roots.

TL;DR: The results showed that ABA, GA and ethylene were all effective to induce production of phenolic acids and increase activities of PAL and TAT in S. miltiorrhiza hairy roots.
Journal ArticleDOI

PEG and ABA trigger methyl jasmonate accumulation to induce the MEP pathway and increase tanshinone production in Salvia miltiorrhiza hairy roots

TL;DR: A signal transduction model was proposed that exogenous applications of PEG and ABA triggered endogenous MJ accumulation by activating ABA signaling pathway to stimulate tanshinone production, while exogenous MJ could directly induce tansinone production mainly via the MEP pathway in S. miltiorrhiza hairy roots.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cloning and characterization of a putative R2R3 MYB transcriptional repressor of the rosmarinic acid biosynthetic pathway from Salvia miltiorrhiza.

TL;DR: Data suggest that SmMYB39 is involved in regulation of rosmarinic acid pathway and acts as a repressor through suppressing transcripts of key enzyme genes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Different Roles of the Mevalonate and Methylerythritol Phosphate Pathways in Cell Growth and Tanshinone Production of Salvia miltiorrhiza Hairy Roots

TL;DR: Roles of the MVA and the MEP pathways in cell growth and tanshinone production of S. miltiorrhiza hairy roots were revealed and suggested that the M VA pathway played a major role in cell grow, while the MEP pathway was the main source of tansinone biosynthesis.
