Determination of Chromium (VI) and (III) by Adsorptive Stripping Voltammetry with Pyrocatechol Violet
TL;DR: In this article, a sensitive voltammetric stripping procedure for trace measurement of chromium (VI) and (III) in aqueous samples is reported, based on the preconcentration of a chromium(VI)−pyrocatechol violet complex at HMDE from an acetate buffered solution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural insights into human heme oxygenase-1 inhibition by potent and selective azole-based compounds
Mona N. Rahman,Dragic Vukomanovic,Jason Z. Vlahakis,Walter A. Szarek,Kanji Nakatsu,Zongchao Jia +5 more
TL;DR: Using X-ray crystallography, the structures of several complexes of HO-1 with novel inhibitors have been elucidated, which provided insightful information regarding the salient features required for inhibitor binding, including the structural basis for non-competitive inhibition, flexibility and adaptability of the inhibitor binding pocket, and multiple, potential interaction subsites, all of which can be exploited in future drug-design strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heme Oxygenase Inhibition by 2-Oxy-substituted 1-Azolyl-4-phenylbutanes: Effect of Variation of the Azole Moiety. X-Ray Crystal Structure of Human Heme Oxygenase-1 in Complex with 4-Phenyl-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-2-butanone†
Gheorghe Roman,Mona N. Rahman,Dragic Vukomanovic,Zongchao Jia,Kanji Nakatsu,Walter A. Szarek +5 more
TL;DR: The replacement of imidazole by other azoles led to the discovery of novel 1H‐1,2,4‐triazole‐ and1H‐tetrazole‐based inhibitors equipotent to a leadImidazoles‐based inhibitor, which proved to be detrimental to the inhibition of HO, with a few exceptions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of pyocyanin from Pseudomonas aeruginosa by adsorptive stripping voltammetry
Dragic Vukomanovic,Dick E. Zoutman,Gerald S. Marks,James F. Brien,G.W. van Loon,Kanji Nakatsu +5 more
TL;DR: An adsorptive stripping voltammetric (AdSV) method that can be used for analysis of pyocyanin at the nanomolar level is developed and tested for utility in Mueller-Hinton broth diluted from 20 to 200 times in a 10-mM ammonia buffer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heme oxygenase inhibition by 1-aryl-2-(1h-imidazol-1-yl/1h-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)ethanones and their derivatives.
TL;DR: A series of inhibition candidates containing a shorter linkage of an azole, usually an imidazole, and an aromatic moiety based on inhibition of heme oxygenases are designed and synthesized for potentially useful pharmacological and therapeutic applications.
