Journal ArticleDOI

Turnover times of gamma-aminobutyric acid and acetylcholine in nucleus caudatus, nucleus accumbens, globus pallidus and substantia nigra: effects of repeated administration of haloperidol

TL;DR: It has been shown that haloperidol shortens GABA turnover time in globus paIlidus and n.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effects of antipsychotics on the turnover rate of GABA and acetylcholine in rat brain nuclei.

TL;DR: Antipsychotics, including chlorpromazine, clozapine and haloperidol increase the turnover rate of dopamine (DA) in the nucleus caudatus and nucleus accumbens8 and preferentially increases the DA turnover in the nuclei Accumbens whereas chlor Promazine and hal operidol, two cataleptogenic antipsychotics show a preferential effect on the nucleus Caudatus.
Journal Article

The turnover rate of gamma-aminobutyric acid in the nuclei of telencephalon: implications in the pharmacology of antipsychotics and of a minor tranquilizer.

TL;DR: It is suggested that an increase of GABA turnover and perhaps of GABA release in striatum and substantia nigra may account for the lack of tardive dyskinesia and extrapyramidal side effects of clozapine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Turnover rates of γ-aminobutyric acid in substantia nigra, N. caudatus, globus pallidus and N. accumbens of rats injected with cataleptogenic and non-cataleptogenic antipsychotics

TL;DR: Since the increase of TRgabain the N. accumbens failed to show tolerance, it may be inferred that this response could be associated with the therapeutic action of antipsychotics.
Book ChapterDOI

The turnover rate of gaba in brain nuclei of rats injected with da receptor antagonists and gaba receptor agonists

TL;DR: GA turnover was estimated mass fragmentographically in brain nuclei of rats infused with 1 3 C labeled glucose andHaloperidol and clozapine, enhance GABA turnover in globus pallidus and N. accumbens and substantia nigra.
