Physical and Anthropogenic Factors Related to Landslide Activity in the Northern Peloponnese, Greece
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of physical and anthropogenic factors in landslide activity was identified and combined with a geographic information system (GIS) to evaluate the collected data and determine the relationship between physical and human activities and landslide activity, and the results proved that Plio-Pleistocene fine-grained sediments and flysch, relatively steep slopes (15°-30°) and a rise in the amount of rainfall increase landslide frequency and density.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spectacular preservation of seagrasses and seagrass-associated communities from the pliocene of rhodes, greece
Pierre Moissette,Efterpi Koskeridou,Jean-Jacques Cornée,Françoise Guillocheau,Christophe Lécuyer,Christophe Lécuyer +5 more
TL;DR: An analysis of the relationships between skeletal organisms and fossil leaves and rhizomes shows that the majority of them lived together in the same seagrass-vegetated environment, were transported a short distance from their natural habitat, and buried very rapidly in fine-grained sediments, thus preserving this remarkable assemblage almost intact.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temporal and Spatial Analysis of Flood Occurrences in the Drainage Basin of Pinios River (Thessaly, Central Greece)
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used historical data and old topographic maps to identify the flood hazard by using historic data in the drainage basin of Pinios (Peneus) River, in Thessaly, central Greece.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tectonic and climatic controls on coastal sedimentation: The Late Pliocene–Middle Pleistocene of northeastern Rhodes, Greece
Jean-Jacques Cornée,Pierre Moissette,Sébastien Joannin,Jean-Pierre Suc,Frédéric Quillévéré,Wout Krijgsman,Frits Hilgen,Efterpi Koskeridou,Philippe Münch,Christophe Lécuyer,Paula Desvignes +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, an integrated study combining data from field investigations, sedimentology, bio- and magnetostratigraphy, radiometric dating, palaeoecology, and palynology is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in vegetation and marine environments in the eastern Mediterranean (Rhodes, Greece) during the Early and Middle Pleistocene
Sébastien Joannin,Jean-Jacques Cornée,Pierre Moissette,Jean-Pierre Suc,Efterpi Koskeridou,Christophe Lécuyer,Christophe Lécuyer,Cédric Buisine,Katarina Kouli,Serge Ferry +9 more
TL;DR: Pollen records, marine faunal associations and stable isotope compositions of sediments from Rhodes, Greece, have been determined to track environmental changes in the eastern Mediterranean during the Early and Middle Pleistocene as mentioned in this paper.
