Journal ArticleDOI
Cytotoxicity and selectiveness of Brazilian Piper species towards oral carcinoma cells.
Arthur Ladeira Macedo,Diego P.D. da Silva,Davyson de Lima Moreira,Lucas N. de Queiroz,Thatyana R. A. Vasconcelos,Geisoellen F. Araujo,Maria Auxiliadora Coelho Kaplan,Suiane S.C. Pereira,Elan Cardozo Paes de Almeida,Alessandra L. Valverde,Bruno K. Robbs +10 more
TL;DR: PC-L-D demonstrated great potential for further development as an anticancer drug and could be the key to developing more effective and less toxic therapies against oral cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular mechanism of action of new 1,4-naphthoquinones tethered to 1,2,3-1H-triazoles with cytotoxic and selective effect against oral squamous cell carcinoma.
Ingrid C. Chipoline,Anna Carolina Carvalho da Fonseca,Gabriella Ribeiro Machado da Costa,Michele Pereira de Souza,Vitor Won-Held Rabelo,Lucas N. de Queiroz,Theo Luiz Ferraz de Souza,Elan Cardozo Paes de Almeida,Paula Alvarez Abreu,Bruno Pontes,Vitor F. Ferreira,Fernando de C. da Silva,Bruno K. Robbs +12 more
TL;DR: Among the 35 synthesized triazole naphthoquinones, compound 16 g was the most effective compound against OSCC cells, presenting high cytotoxicity, selectivity, and low acute toxicity on animals, and therefore might be considered for future cancer therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pro-Apoptotic Antitumoral Effect of Novel Acridine-Core Naphthoquinone Compounds against Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Bruna C. Zorzanelli,Gabriel Ouverney,Fernanda P. Pauli,Anna Carolina Carvalho da Fonseca,Elan Cardozo Paes de Almeida,Danielle Gonçalves de Carvalho,Patricia A. Possik,Vitor Won-Held Rabelo,Paula Alvarez Abreu,Bruno Augusto Nogueira Monteiro Pontes,Vitor F. Ferreira,Luana da S. M. Forezi,Fernando de C. da Silva,Bruno K. Robbs +13 more
TL;DR: Mechanistically, compound 4e promoted cell death by apoptosis in the OSCC cell, and molecular docking studies suggested this compound possibly targets enzymes important for tumor progression, such as RSK2, PKM2, and topoisomerase IIα.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemoselective Synthesis of Mannich Adducts from 1,4-Naphthoquinones and Profile as Autophagic Inducers in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Amanda A. Borges,Michele P. de Souza,Anna Carolina Carvalho da Fonseca,Guilherme Freimann Wermelinger,R. Ribeiro,Adriane Antonia Pereira Amaral,Cláudio José C. de Carvalho,Lucas Silva Abreu,Lucas N. de Queiroz,Elan Cardozo Paes de Almeida,Vitor Won-Held Rabelo,Paula Alvarez Abreu,Bruno Pontes,Vitor F. Ferreira,Fernando de C. da Silva,Luana da S. M. Forezi,Bruno K. Robbs +16 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors promote a multiple component reaction (MCR) among lawsone, arylaldehydes, and benzylamine to produce sixteen chemoselectively derived Mannich adducts of 1,4-naphthoquinones in good yield.
Journal ArticleDOI
New substances of Equisetum hyemale L. extracts and their in vivo antitumoral effect against oral squamous cell carcinoma.
Lucas N. de Queiroz,Anna Carolina Carvalho da Fonseca,Guilherme Freimann Wermelinger,D. P. D. da Silva,Aislan C R F Pascoal,Alexandra Christine Helena Frankland Sawaya,Elan Cardozo Paes de Almeida,Bruno Sérgio do Amaral,Davyson de Lima Moreira,Bruno K. Robbs +9 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluated the antiproliferative activity of E. hyemale and its partitions in oral squamous carcinoma cell lines, the death pathways induced by the most active partition, the acute toxicity and therapeutic activity, and the identification of the main compounds.
