Journal ArticleDOI
Citrus Flavonoids: molecular structure, biological activity and nutritional properties: a review
TL;DR: The present review summarizes the existing bibliography on biological and pharmacological studies of Citrus flavonoids, both in vitro and in vivo, and suggests that dietary flavonoid intakes may help to supplement the body antioxidant defences against free radicals.
Journal ArticleDOI
The phenolic compounds of olive oil: structure, biological activity and beneficial effects on human health.
Elisa Tripoli,Marco Giammanco,Garden Tabacchi,Danila Di Majo,Santo Giammanco,Maurizio La Guardia +5 more
TL;DR: This review focuses on recent works analysing the relationship between the structure of olive oil polyphenolic compounds and their antioxidant activity, which is related to the development of atherosclerosis and cancer, and to anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Flavanones in Citrus fruit: Structure¿antioxidant activity relationships
Danila Di Majo,Marco Giammanco,Maurizio La Guardia,Elisa Tripoli,Santo Giammanco,Enrico Finotti +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the crocin bleaching inhibition assay to identify the antioxidant or pro-oxidant behaviors of common flavanones and to determine their activity-structure relationships as antioxidant using the Crocin bleach inhibition assay.
Journal Article
Omega 3 fatty acids: biological activity and effects on human health.
TL;DR: A critical evaluation of PUFAs dietary sources and biological functions in human organism has been done, and the efficacy of omega-3 fatty acids in the improvement of the lipidic pattern and in the excitability of myocardium has been analyzed, and their usefulness in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and postinfarction arrhythmias is analyzed.
