Victor M. Montori,Philip J. Devereaux,Neill K. J. Adhikari,Neill K. J. Adhikari,Karen E. A. Burns,Karen E. A. Burns,Christoph H. Eggert,Matthias Briel,Christina Lacchetti,Teresa W. Leung,Elizabeth K. Darling,Dianne Bryant,Heiner C. Bucher,Holger J. Schünemann,Holger J. Schünemann,Maureen O. Meade,Deborah J. Cook,Patricia J. Erwin,Amit Sood,Richa Sood,Benjamin Lo,Carly A. Thompson,Qi Zhou,Edward J Mills,Gordon H. Guyatt +24 more
TL;DR: RCTs stopped early for benefit are becoming more common, often fail to adequately report relevant information about the decision to stop early, and show implausibly large treatment effects, particularly when the number of events is small, which suggests clinicians should view the results of such trials with skepticism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contribution of prepregnancy body mass index and gestational weight gain to adverse neonatal outcomes: population attributable fractions for Canada
Susie Dzakpasu,John Fahey,Russell S. Kirby,Suzanne Tough,Beverley Chalmers,Maureen Heaman,Sharon Bartholomew,Anne Biringer,Elizabeth K. Darling,Lily Lee,Sarah D. McDonald +10 more
TL;DR: Maternal weight, and GWG in particular, contributes significantly to the occurrence of adverse neonatal outcomes in Canada and exceeds that of prenatal smoking for PTB and SGA, highlighting its public health importance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cesarean and Vaginal Birth in Canadian Women: A Comparison of Experiences
Beverley Chalmers,Janusz Kaczorowski,Elizabeth K. Darling,Maureen Heaman,Deshayne B. Fell,Beverley O'Brien,Lily Lee +6 more
TL;DR: Findings from the Maternity Experiences Survey indicated that women who have cesarean births experience more interventions during labor and birth and have less optimal birthing and early parenting outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
A meta-analysis of the efficacy of ocular prophylactic agents used for the prevention of gonococcal and chlamydial ophthalmia neonatorum.
TL;DR: Failure rates of universal eye prophylaxis support reexamination of this policy where the prevalence of maternal infection is low, and each of the eight included studies had substantial methodologic weaknesses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Perceptions of barriers to accessing perinatal mental health care in midwifery: A scoping review.
TL;DR: Twenty-one out of the twenty-six publications included in this review identified problems at the very beginning of the care-accessing process, suggesting that PMH care is often unapproachable, or that people are unable to perceive their need for care in the first place.
