Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 is a basic-helix-loop-helix-PAS heterodimer regulated by cellular O2 tension

TL;DR: Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) is found in mammalian cells cultured under reduced O2 tension and is necessary for transcriptional activation mediated by the erythropoietin gene enhancer in hypoxic cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization and localization of Mox2, the gene encoding the murine homolog of the rat MRC OX-2 membrane glycoprotein

TL;DR: The genomic organization for the gene encoding the murine homolog of MRC OX-2 (Mox2) is reported, demonstrating that in addition to the canonical transcript, this gene gives rise to an additional nonproductive transcript resulting from the absence of exon 2, which leads to a frameshift and premature translation termination.
