Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Trans-Nasal Evaporative Intra-arrest Cooling on Functional Neurologic Outcome in Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest: The PRINCESS Randomized Clinical Trial.
Per Nordberg,Fabio Silvio Taccone,Anatolij Truhlar,Sune Forsberg,Jacob Hollenberg,Martin Jonsson,Jerome Cuny,Patrick Goldstein,Nick Vermeersch,Adeline Higuet,Francisco Carmona Jiménes,Fernando Rosell Ortiz,Julia Williams,Didier Desruelles,Jacques Creteur,Emelie Dillenbeck,Caroline Busche,Hans-Jörg Busch,Mattias Ringh,David Konrad,Johan Peterson,Jean Louis Vincent,Leif Svensson +22 more
TL;DR: Among patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, trans-nasal evaporative intra-arrest cooling compared with usual care did not result in a statistically significant improvement in survival with good neurologic outcome at 90 days.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pre-hospital Resuscitation INtra-arrest Cooling Effectiveness Survival – The PRINCESS Study
Per Nordberg,Fabio Silvio Taccone,Anatolij Truhlar,Fernando Rosell Ortiz,Nick Vermeersch,Patrick Goldstein,Jerome Cuny,Marc Vrankx,Francesco Carmona Jiménez,Richard Lyon,Julia Williams,Jean Louis Vincent,Jacob Hollenberg,Sune Forsberg,Emelie Dillenbeck,Thomas Hermansson,Leif Svensson +16 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Intra-Arrest Therapeutic Hypothermia and Neurologic Outcome in Patients Admitted after Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest: A Post Hoc Analysis of the Princess Trial
Elisabetta Macchini,Emelie Dillenbeck,Martin Jonsson,Filippo Annoni,Sune Forsberg,Jacob Hollenberg,Anatolij Truhlář,Leif Svensson,Per Nordberg,Fabio Silvio Taccone +9 more
TL;DR: In patients with initial shockable rhythm, TNEC was associated with increased full neurological recovery, and in this post hoc analysis of admitted OHCA patients, no statistically significant benefits of TNEC on neurological outcome at 90 days was found.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strategies of Advanced Airway Management in Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest during Intra-Arrest Hypothermia: Insights from the PRINCESS Trial
Jonathan Tjerkaski,Thomas Hermansson,Emelie Dillenbeck,Fabio Silvio Taccone,Anatolij Truhlář,Sune Forsberg,Jacob Hollenberg,Mattias Ringh,Martin Jonsson,Leif Svensson,Per Nordberg +10 more
TL;DR: In this article , transnasal evaporative cooling was used to induce intra-arrest therapeutic hypothermia in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), and the use of supraglottic airway devices (SGA) instead of endotracheal intubation may enable shorter time intervals to induce cooling.
