Exact, Metaheuristic, and Hybrid Approaches to Multidimensional Knapsack Problems
TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduce multidimensional knapsack problem hybrid models and experimental analysis of the hybrid models is performed using a multi-dimensional Knapsack Problem hybrid model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhancing distributed EAs by a proactive strategy
TL;DR: Computational experiments on large instances of the NK landscape problem have shown that the proactive approach outperforms traditional dEAs, particularly for not highly rugged landscapes, in which it does not only reaches the most accurate solutions, but it does the fastest.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hybrid PSO6 for hard continuous optimization
José García-Nieto,Enrique Alba +1 more
TL;DR: The results support the conjecture that the (quasi)-optimally informed PSO, hybridized with local search mechanisms, reaches a high rate of success on a large number of complex (non-separable) continuous optimization functions.
Book ChapterDOI
Solving the illumination problem with heuristics
TL;DR: This article proposes optimal and quasi optimal solutions to the problem of searching for the maximum lighting point inside a polygon P of n vertices and shows that simulated annealing is very competitive in this application.
