Cognitive Profile and Markers of Alzheimer Disease-Type Pathology in Patients With Lewy Body Dementias.
Erica Howard,David J. Irwin,Katya Rascovsky,Naomi Nevler,Sanjana Shellikeri,Thomas F. Tropea,Meredith Spindler,Andres Deik,Alice Chen-Plotkin,Andrew Siderowf,Nabila Dahodwala,Daniel Weintraub,Daniel Weintraub,Leslie M. Shaw,John Q. Trojanowski,Sanjeev N. Vaishnavi,David A. Wolk,Dawn Mechanic-Hamilton,James F. Morley,James F. Morley,John E. Duda,John E. Duda,Murray Grossman,Katheryn A.Q. Cousins +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors found that patients with Lewy body dementia (LBD) with likely Alzheimer disease (AD) type copathology are more impaired on confrontation naming than those without likely AD-type copathy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Natural speech markers of Alzheimer's disease co-pathology in Lewy body dementias.
Sanjana Shellikeri,Sunghye Cho,Katheryn A.Q. Cousins,Mark Liberman,Erica Howard,Yvonne Balganorth,Daniel Weintraub,Meredith Spindler,Andres Deik,Edward A. Lee,John Q. Trojanowski,David J. Irwin,David A. Wolk,Murray Grossman,Naomi Nevler +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper , an automated analysis of natural speech as an inexpensive, non-invasive screening tool for AD co-pathology in biologically-confirmed cohorts of Lewy body dementias (LBD) patients with co-occurring Alzheimer's disease (AD) and without (SYN-AD).
Journal ArticleDOI
More Than Words: Extra-Sylvian Neuroanatomic Networks Support Indirect Speech Act Comprehension and Discourse in Behavioral Variant Frontotemporal Dementia.
Meghan Healey,Erica Howard,Molly Ungrady,Christopher Olm,Naomi Nevler,David J. Irwin,Murray Grossman +6 more
TL;DR: This article found that subjects with behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD, n = 21) and brain-damaged controls with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (MCI) were selectively impaired in indirect relative to direct speech act comprehension, due in part to their social and executive limitations.

More than words: Extra-Sylvian neuroanatomic networks support indirect speech act discourse comprehension in behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia
Meghan Healey,Erica Howard,Molly Ungrady,Christopher Olm,Naomi Nevler,David J. Irwin,Murray Grossman +6 more
TL;DR: Patients with behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia and brain-damaged controls with amnestic mild cognitive impairment are asked to judge simple question-answer dialogues of the form of 'Do you want some cake for dessert?' and related to structural and diffusion MRI results demonstrate that subjects with bvFTD are selectively impaired in indirect relative to direct speech act comprehension.
Journal ArticleDOI
Frontal Atrophy and Executive Dysfunction Relate to Complex Numbers Impairment in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Erica Howard,Samantha Ballinger,Nikolas G. Kinney,Yvonne R. Balgenorth,Annabess Ehrhardt,Jeffrey S. Phillips,David J. Irwin,Murray Grossman,Katheryn A.Q. Cousins +8 more
TL;DR: PS demonstrated selective impairments in complex numbers processing compared to LBSD, and this complex numerical deficit may relate to executive dysfunction and frontal atrophy.
