TL;DR: The authors include information on the relationship between health‐related behaviors and comorbidities, long‐term sequelae and patient‐reported outcomes, and health disparities, with attention to enabling survivors' ability to adhere to recommendations.

TL;DR: Taking more steps per day was associated with a progressively lower risk of all-cause mortality, up to a level that varied by age, which can be used to inform step guidelines for public health promotion of physical activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Crime, perceived safety, and physical activity: A meta-analysis
TL;DR: Estimation of the odds of accumulating high levels of physical activity (PA) when the perception of safety from crime is high and when objectively-measuredCrime is high found that perceived lack ofsafety from crime constrains PA behaviors, and future research exploring moderators of this association may help guide public health recommendations and interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prolonged Leisure Time Spent Sitting in Relation to Cause-Specific Mortality in a Large US Cohort
TL;DR: Extended leisure-time sitting was associated with higher risk of mortality from all causes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, kidney disease, suicide, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonitis due to solids and liquids, liver, peptic ulcer and other digestive disease, Parkinson disease, nervous disorders, and musculoskeletal disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mortality risk reductions for replacing sedentary time with physical activities
Erika Rees-Punia,Erika Rees-Punia,Ellen M. Evans,Michael D. Schmidt,Charles E. Matthews,Susan M. Gapstur,Alpa V. Patel +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the replacement of modest amounts of sitting time with even light physical activity may have the potential to reduce the risk of premature death among less active adults.
