TL;DR: In this article, a system to monitor the health of the structure, program product, and associated methods are provided, which can include multiple health monitoring sensor nodes each including a sensor element connected to or embedded within the body of a structure to be monitored and positioned to monitor parameters of a portion of the body.
Abstract: A system to monitor the health of the structure, program product, and associated methods are provided. The system can include multiple health monitoring sensor nodes each including a sensor element connected to or embedded within the body of a structure to be monitored and positioned to monitor parameters of a portion of the body of the structure. The sensor nodes are spatially positioned along the body of structure at related or complementary locations to form a special correlative relationship between sensor nodes. The system can also include a data collector having a transceiver positioned to gather sensed parameter data from each of the sensor nodes. The system can also include a central computer in communication with the data collector and including in memory parameter process program product adapted to analyze the sensed parameter data, correlate the sensed parameter data to infer a state of health of the structure responsive to the correlation, and to detect or otherwise determine a type, severity, and/or location of damage to or incipient failure of the structure.

TL;DR: In this paper, a protection system for a power distribution system is described, where the system has a processor, a breaker, a network coupled to the processor, and an algorithm that monitors for a permission to trip request.
Abstract: There is disclosed a protection system for a power distribution system. The system has a processor, a breaker; a network coupled to the processor, a first module coupled to the network and the breaker, a second module coupled to the network, and an algorithm. The algorithm monitors for a permission to trip request. If a plurality of permission to trip requests are received during a given time period, the algorithm issues a permission granted command to the first module and a hold command to the second module.

TL;DR: In this paper, a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) current sensor is described as including a first conductor, a magnetic field shaping component, and a MEMS-based magnetic field sensing component including a magneto-MEMS component for sensing the shaped magnetic field.
Abstract: A micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) current sensor is described as including a first conductor, a magnetic field shaping component for shaping a magnetic field produced by a current in the first conductor, and a MEMS-based magnetic field sensing component including a magneto-MEMS component for sensing the shaped magnetic field and, in response thereto, providing an indication of the current in the first conductor. A method for sensing a current using MEMS is also described as including shaping a magnetic field produced with a current in a first conductor, sensing the shaped magnetic field with a MEMS-based magnetic field sensing component having a magneto-MEMS component magnetic field sensing circuit, and providing an indication of the current in the first conductor.
