Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal envelope analysis for new code compliance of Saudi Arabian dwellings

TL;DR: In this article, a 55mm thick continuous external insulation layer is proposed to improve the performance considerably, reducing the wall-averaged thermal transmittance from 1.27 W/m2 K to 0.34 W/k.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal mass impact on energy consumption for buildings in hot climates: A novel finite element modelling study comparing building constructions for arid climates in Saudi Arabia

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated the impact of thermal mass on the internal temperature in a scenario where no heat is transferred into the building, showing a time-shifting effect, long time lag, and small decrement factor.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solutions for Exposed Structural Concrete Bridged Elements for a More Sustainable Concrete Construction in Hot Climates

TL;DR: In this article , the impact of solar radiation on a building's thermal bridging was analyzed using finite element analysis, and the results showed that the heat loss across uninsulated cast in situ structural elements is more than double the heat losses across portions of insulated walls.
