N-ality and topology at finite temperature

TL;DR: In this article, the spectrum of confining strings in SU(3) pure gauge theory, in different representations of the gauge group, was studied and the results provided direct evidence that the string spectrum agrees with predictions based on n-ality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Four-point renormalized coupling constant and Callan-Symanzik beta-function in O(N) models

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the Callan-symanzik beta function is non-analytic at its zero point, i.e. at the fixed-point value g^* of g. This fact calls for a check of the actual accuracy of the determination of g* from the resummation of the d=3 perturbative g-expansion, which is usually performed assuming analyticity of the beta-function.

Breaking of the gauge symmetry in lattice gauge theories

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the effects of perturbations that break gauge symmetries in lattice gauge theories, focusing mainly on the continuous transitions associated with the charged fixed point of the Abelian Higgs (AH) field theory.
Journal ArticleDOI

Critical phenomena and renormalization-group theory

TL;DR: In this article, the critical behavior of spin systems at equilibrium is studied in three and two dimensions, and the results in three-dimensional space are presented in particular for the six-loop perturbative series for the $\beta$-functions.
