Journal ArticleDOI

Alternating Locking Ratios in Imperfect Phase Synchronization

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the phase drift is caused by the passage near the long unstable periodic orbits whose frequencies are locked by external force in ratios different from 1:1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phase synchronization in the forced Lorenz system.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the dynamics of phase synchronization in a chaotic system under weak periodic forcing depends crucially on the distribution of intrinsic characteristic times of this system, and with the help of unstable periodic orbits, this state is replaced by another one, which is called "imperfect phase synchronization," and in which alternation of temporal segments are observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

On Phase Synchronization by Periodic Force in Chaotic Oscillators with Saddle Equilibria

TL;DR: It is shown how this adjustment of characteristic timescales to the period of the forcing is violated when, due to the presence of a saddle point in the autonomous attractor, the time intervals between returns onto a Poincare plane are unbounded.
Journal ArticleDOI

Self-induced slow-fast dynamics and swept bifurcation diagrams in weakly desynchronized systems.

TL;DR: The action of the general mechanism, due to which an autonomous system under fixed parameter values can imitate repeated bifurcational transitions, is demonstrated for a set of two coupled autonomous chaotic oscillators and for a chaotic system perturbed by a periodic external force.
