Journal ArticleDOI
Uric acid and oxidative stress.
TL;DR: The current evidence regarding the antioxidant role of uric acid is presented and it is suggested that it has an important role as an oxidative stress marker and a potential therapeutic roles as an antioxidant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Different pain scores in single transumbilical incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy versus classic laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a randomized controlled trial.
Evangelos C. Tsimoyiannis,Konstantinos E. Tsimogiannis,George Pappas-Gogos,Charalampos Farantos,Nikolaos Benetatos,Paraskevi Mavridou,Adamantia Manataki +6 more
TL;DR: SILS cholecystectomy, as well as the invisible scar, has significantly lower abdominal and shoulder pain scores, especially after the first 24 h postoperatively, when this pain is nonexistent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laparoscopic surgery-induced changes in oxidative stress markers in human plasma
Glantzounis G,Alexandros D. Tselepis,Afroditi P. Tambaki,Thomas A Trikalinos,A. D. Manataki,Dimitrios Galaris,Evangelos C. Tsimoyiannis,A. M. Kappas +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that free radicals are generated at the end of a laparoscopic procedure, possibly as a result of an ischemia-reperfusion phenomenon induced by the inflation and deflation of the pneumoperitoneum.
Journal ArticleDOI
Laparoscopic placement of the Tenckhoff catheter for peritoneal dialysis.
Evangelos C. Tsimoyiannis,Siakas P,Glantzounis G,Chrysoula Toli,G. Sferopoulos,M. Pappas,Adamandia Manataki +6 more
TL;DR: Laparoscopic placement of a Tenckhoff catheter leads to better function than does the open procedure; it allows immediate start of dialysis without fluid leakage and permits simultaneous performance of other laparoscopic procedures.
Journal Article
Intraperitoneal normal saline and bupivacaine infusion for reduction of postoperative pain after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
TL;DR: It is concluded that postoperative pain after laparoscopic cholecystectomy can be significantly reduced by intraperitoneal normal saline infusion subdiaphragmatically and after its postdeflation suction, bupivacaine infusion in the same area, or without bupavacaine in case a subhepatic drainage has been needed.
