Journal ArticleDOI

Antimicrobial Electrospun Biopolymer Nanofiber Mats Functionalized with Graphene Oxide-Silver Nanocomposites.

TL;DR: The results suggest that covalent binding of GO-Ag nanocomposites to the surface of PLGA-chitosan mats opens up new opportunities for the production of cost-effective, scalable, and biodegradable coating materials with the ability to hinder microbial proliferation on solid surfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI

Role of Ionic Charge Density in Donnan Exclusion of Monovalent Anions by Nanofiltration.

TL;DR: A proposed mechanism for the role of ionic charge density in the rejection of monovalent anions in NF is proposed and corroborates the main hypothesis that an anion with a smaller ionic radius, and hence a higher charge density, is more affected by the Donnan (charge)-exclusion mechanism in NF.
Journal ArticleDOI

Activation behavior for ion permeation in ion-exchange membranes: Role of ion dehydration in selective transport

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the mechanisms governing the selectivity of anion and cation-exchange membranes for the transport of four monovalent anions (i.e., fluoride, chloride, bromide, and nitrate) and four non-monovalent cations (such as sodium, potassium, cesium, and ammonium), respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heterogeneous WSx/WO3 thorn-bush nanofiber electrodes for sodium-ion batteries

TL;DR: A tailored synthetic strategy used to create heterogeneous tungsten sulfide/oxide core-shell nanofiber materials with vertically and randomly aligned thorn-bush features is reported on, and they are evaluated as potential anode materials for high-performance Na-ion batteries.
