Adherence and medical outcomes in pediatric liver transplant recipients who transition to adult services
Rachel A. Annunziato,Sukru Emre,Sukru Emre,Benjamin L. Shneider,Benjamin L. Shneider,Codette Barton,Christina A. Dugan,Eyal Shemesh,Eyal Shemesh +8 more
TL;DR: This small retrospective study suggests that the period of transition from pediatric to adult transplant clinics is a vulnerable one and larger, prospective investigations of the transition process are necessary before recommendations are made regarding interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Medication adherence in pediatric and adolescent liver transplant recipients.
Eyal Shemesh,Benjamin L. Shneider,Jill K Savitzky,Lindsay Arnott,Gabriel Gondolesi,Nancy Krieger,Nanda Kerkar,Margret S. Magid,Margaret L. Stuber,James Schmeidler,Rachel Yehuda,Sukru Emre +11 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that clinical impression is not sufficient to determine whether children and adolescents are taking their medications after they have had a liver transplant, and an objective assessment method should be used.
Journal ArticleDOI
Posttraumatic stress, nonadherence, and adverse outcome in survivors of a myocardial infarction.
TL;DR: PTSD symptoms predicted poor disease control in this cohort of MI survivors and the data suggest that screening MI survivors for symptoms of PTSD may be beneficial if this high-risk population is to be targeted for interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
A pilot study of posttraumatic stress and nonadherence in pediatric liver transplant recipients.
Eyal Shemesh,Susan Lurie,Margaret L. Stuber,Sukru Emre,Yogita Patel,Pankaj Vohra,Marie Aromando,Benjamin L. Shneider +7 more
TL;DR: Clinically significant nonadherence was significantly associated with the existence of symptoms from all 3 domains of PTSD (Fisher's exact test) in this sample of pediatric liver transplant recipients, which suggests that avoidance of reminders of the disease (eg, medications) may be a mechanism ofnonadherence.
Journal ArticleDOI
