Journal ArticleDOI

Directed elimination of senescent cells by inhibition of BCL-W and BCL-XL.

TL;DR: The finding that senescent cells can be eliminated pharmacologically paves the way to new strategies for the treatment of age-related pathologies.
Journal ArticleDOI

DAP kinase links the control of apoptosis to metastasis

TL;DR: Lung carcinoma clones, characterized by their highly aggressive metastatic behaviour and originating from two independent murine lung tumours, did not express DAP kinase, in contrast to their low-metastatic counterparts, and it is proposed that loss of DAP Kinase expression provides a unique mechanism that links suppression of apoptosis to metastasis.
Journal Article

Interleukin 6 Gene Transfection into Lewis Lung Carcinoma Tumor Cells Suppresses the Malignant Phenotype and Confers Immunotherapeutic Competence against Parental Metastatic Cells

TL;DR: Inactivated IL-6 transfectants were effective when used as a cellular vaccine for experimental immunotherapy of metastasis and prevented metastatic growth of parental highly metastatic D122 cells when immunization of mice was begun after establishment of the primary parental tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative identification of senescent cells in aging and disease.

TL;DR: A new way to precisely quantify and identify senescent cells in tissues on a single‐cell basis is presented, enabling a deeper understanding of the senescent state in vivo and paves the way for screening of senescence cells for identification of newsenescence biomarkers, genes that bypass senescences or senolytic compounds that eliminate senescent Cells.
