Mortality risk factors in patients treated by chronic hemodialysis. Report of the Diaphane collaborative study.

TL;DR: Results for urea but not for cholesterol remain significant after adjustment for age, sex, weekly dialysis schedule and body mass index, and it is suggested that a poor nutritional state and/or low protein intake may be important factors for explaining the high cardiovascular mortality, particularly for strokes, observed in dialyzed patients.

Evolution of residual renal function in patients undergoing maintenance haemodialysis or continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.

TL;DR: From the beginning of the dialysis treatment to the eighteenth month there was a significant and progressive decrease of GFR in the group of patients treated by haemodialysis, while in theperitoneal dialysis group GFR and peritoneal clearances remained stable.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of socioprofessional conditions on blood pressure levels and hypertension control: epidemiologic study of 6,665 subjects in the paris district

TL;DR: It is suggested that the differences in blood pressure levels observed among occupational categories are partly due to working conditions, and that poor compliance with treatment among the low occupational categories enhances these differences.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationship between alcohol consumption and hypertension prevalence and control in a French population.

TL;DR: The findings stress the importance of alcohol consumption which was found to be a major risk factor for arterial hypertension and noncompliance with antihypertensive treatment in this population.
