Journal ArticleDOI

Femtosecond-resolved ground-state recovery of cis-stilbene in solution

TL;DR: In this article, the femtosecond pulse excitation of cis-stilbene at 312.5 nm yields a transient absorption in the visible with a 1.35 ps lifetime.
Journal ArticleDOI

Excitation energy effects in the photophysics of trans-stilbene in solution

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that trans-stilbene with 306 nm pulses generates a narrower transient spectrum than with 265 nm, suggesting that these spectra do not evolve in the same manner.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Isomerization Intermediates In Solution Phase Photochemistry Of Stilbenes

TL;DR: In this paper, the photoinduced isomerism of both stilbene and biindanyledene was investigated and a transient absorption at 351 nm displays time evolution and viscosity dependence consistent with absorption by a twisted intermediate with a lOps lifetime.
Book ChapterDOI

Photoinduced Isomerism of Stilbenes: Picosecond Timescale Results

TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that substituted ethylene can undergo cis-trans isomerism following optical excitation, and that the effect of the solvent is to slow down the isomerization and at sufficiently low temperature or high viscosity the rate is even slower than radiative processes.
