Journal ArticleDOI

The NLRP3 Inflammasome and Its Role in Sepsis Development.

TL;DR: Evidence is elucidated to understand the connection between sepsis development and the NLRP3 inflammasome, the most widely investigated member of this class of receptor.
Journal ArticleDOI

Treatment with cannabidiol reverses oxidative stress parameters, cognitive impairment and mortality in rats submitted to sepsis by cecal ligation and puncture

TL;DR: The data provide the first experimental demonstration that CBD reduces the consequences of sepsis induced by CLP in rats, by decreasing oxidative stress in peripheral organs and in the brain, improving impaired cognitive function, and decreasing mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plasma nitric oxide, endothelin‐1, arginase and superoxide dismutase in pre‐eclamptic women

TL;DR: The aim of this study was to determine several parameters of nitric oxide metabolism in pre‐eclamptic patients and to establish a priori whether these parameters are related to EMT or not.
Journal ArticleDOI

Long-Term Cognitive Outcomes After Sepsis: a Translational Systematic Review.

TL;DR: Clinical studies have showed that sepsis survivors presented increased bodily symptoms such as fatigue, pain, visual disturbances, gastrointestinal problems, and neuropsychiatric problems compared to before sepsi, and the rodents presented long-term cognitive impairment in different behavioral tasks that were prevented by blocking the mechanism of action of these inflammatory mediators.
